Just curious to what people found attractive about BDO.

    For me it's:

    • The big world I can explore.
    • Open world map (the game uses phasing mostly instead of instancing)
    • The indepth npc social system
    • The trading system
    • The large siege pvp's
    • Horse trainer simulator 2016
    • I like how i can spent 3 hours walking around the same village doing all the different side-quests
    • I also like the method on how you gain skillpoints & contribution points (by doing quests)
    • The interesting fightergame-like input system for abilities in an mmo environment.
Rushing to lvl 50 will backfire on players since they will have unlocked less skillpoints/contribution points compared to people who do all the side-quests.

    Graphics, combat, mass pvp.

Disavantages: No "kid" fluffy/cuteness, too serious, very bad soundtrack.

Personally i'm a fan of dark fantasy games like:
Dark souls, Demon souls and elder scrolls to a certain degree.
The grimness of the world gives you a sense of mystery and danger.

It's the primary reason why i went to my screen option menu and turned:
    • photo filter from "vibrance" to Warm.
    • Increased the contrast to 30%
    • Turned on 0%
You can still make things cute with the costumes & color dyes, i think.
    Perhaps cute house decorations?

you can make things cute but not to elin/lyn cute levels.

Also a pro for black desert is that Daum seems like the best western game publisher ever.

I like grinding till a certain degree.
it gives a sense of accomplishment and dedication.
A game where i'm lvl 50 in 2 days seems pretty boring.
    where's the challenge in that?o_O

Not everyone just plays game for pvp.
For me a game is like a movie or a book.
The story, lore and it's world can be a facinating thing.
Sometimes the path is more interesting then your end goal.

Just because you don't like it, doesnt mean you have to be condensending about it.

It's not endless grind actually. Level 50 is fast, level 55 should go at a similar pace as HongMoon levels in BnS and leveling beyond that is pretty much impossible until a certain later update.

Things I like in this game:
    - Sandbox elements
    - Buy-to-play business model
    - Good publisher
    - Very good graphics and awesome theme
    - No lyns/elins and the like

    Some I don't like:
    - Gender-locked classes
    - PvP combat system is clearly inferior to that of BnS
    - The game sort of feels like a single-player game

Im sorry I might come over condensending but let me clarify this a bit more.

    1) If you like grinding to a certain degree then I wish you all the best, black desert is more grindy then blade and soul.....as for blade and soul, levelling might go very fast but after that upgrading weapons and gear on even one character will keep you going for a while and I think you will find all the accomplishment and dedication you want in blade and soul with a lot more variation in endgame.

    2) While it is true that you can level really fast in BNS I much rather prefer the levelling fast and start beginning at the end game

    3) I do not play BNS just for PvP, PvE is yet to begin in BNS as we are tons of content behind

    4) As for story, Blade and soul story is really good, have no idea about BDO but in the end BNS and BDO are both MMOs and not story focused games, if I wanted to play a game for the story it would be the longest journey, telltale games etc....

PS: please read the article steparu wrote where he compared both games, its a very interesting read

Being cute is fine with me. Only if they were unable to wear *sexy* like bikini and stuff. But in every MMO if there is a cute childlike race bikinis are sure to come.
Besides in BnS they just look bad IMO. TERA elins were so much better :p

I've seen discussion about a certain race in BDO to be implemented later on but CM said it's very not likely.

I'm discovering the game (CBT2) so I can't say much for now, but there are 2 things I disliked right from the start :

    - No damages numbers

As someone who like to know how much DPS I do and how to optimize my char, I can't be happy about this :(

    - Only 1 skill bar ; Can't bind to shift+1-12 / ctrl+1-12 / alt+1-12

My Razer Naga is nearly useless in this game :(
Well, it seems skill bar casted skills do less damages and cost more, so not that important I guess

I strongly advise not to use the quickbar for skills in BDO.
Most skills in BDO can be executed by using Q,E,F, shift & left & right mouse button while holding back-arrow key or left/right arrow key.
This works even for skills you haven't bound to your quickbar.
This will free up the neccesary space on your quickbar for items/potions as far as I've seen.

I also looked in the input menu in BDO, and it seems you can bind 20 hotkeys.

Why the sudden comparison to B&S?
Noticed how in my comment I specifically used "Me", "I", "For me"?
Meaning its a personal opinion and i'm not attacking B&S, nor did i mention it at all.
I think you misunderstood my general remarks regarding MMO as something for B&S.

I played B&S a short while at various dates and it looks like a very decent game. (just not for me)
If you feel the sudden need to defend B&S, then i guess you subconsiously feel the game is adressed regarding those factors.
Anyway, I do not wish to continue this topic in this thread since this is a BDO thread.

I opened this thread to have some conversation topics running for BDO.
Hence it's strange of you to barge in the tread with negativity and defending B&S.
You could start another thread if you wish to talk more about BDO in comparision to B&S.

True, there is nothing wrong with the races themselves, it's usually the revealing clothing that makes it unbearable to play.
But at the same time, i'm not really a fan of underwear costumes in games in general which BDO has ;(

Side note: I don't like how the valkyrie class has unarmored legs, especially since she likes to kick a lot.
Wish there was an option to cover it with something

Certain spells in BDO are recastable even when on cooldown.
But if you re-cast them during cooldown period, they will be less effective or lose certain side-effects.

I'm pretty open-minded regarding most things, but the association between infantile body types in sexualised clothing & pedophilia is kinda strong in western culture. Even if these half-beasts characters are a different race or 200 years old, people who don't play/read a lot of fantasy will think of them as: human children with a tail & ears. I've been called out on it once before, and i can tell you it's a horrible experience to be called a pedophile by someone (step-mom).

In short: kawaii-ness doesn't exist in western culture.

I don't know on what part you're answering, but for the MP cost I just tested on my Witch :

    Concentrated Magic Arrow I :

    Hotbar : 40 MP
    Keyboard : 38 MP

As for the damages, it's not written on the skill window, like it is for the ressources cost reduction, so it could indeed be wrong

Luckily i dont really give much shits about people calling me lolicon/pedo/whatever they wanna creep out on. Besides: most of it is just to troll and lure someone out to start throwing insults back etc. I like everything cute and fluffy and those who think more to it, are free to do so.
This is not really about black desert anymore though:p
But i just miss it in black desert- alot^^

I'm just more sensitive to it because of something that happend to my sibling.
I shouldn't care much either but the social backlash of being called pedo are pretty severe.
If those baseless rumors spread like fire, you are socially ruined.
+ i'm very insulted if something thinks it of me since i got to witness the traumatic after-effects up close.

    But i won't judge people myself ;)
